Sandra (Sandy) Elizabeth Reed departed this life peacefully at home, in the company of family and friends on February 19, 2024 due to medical complications associated with breast cancer.

Born Sandra Elizabeth Adams on October 3, 1952 in Camden, New Jersey Sandy grew into an ongoing, loving and gracious woman who touched and inspired many who had the privilege of meeting and interacting with her.

She had a grand career as a Critical Care Registered Nurse spanning nearly thirty years over which she met and married her husband Bill in Annapolis, Maryland. Thereafter, as a nurse and Navy spouse she worked in Annapolis, San Diego, California, Hawaii and finally Tampa, Florida where she retired after eighteen years with Brandon Florida Hospital. She was well respected by colleagues, physicians and friends who often sought her out and relied on her for professional guidance and advice.

Further, on retirement, Sandy was very active in the Tampa community as a birder. She loved nature and the environment, in particular birds, and, as the Tampa Audubon Society Vice President undertook several projects to enhance bird safety, propagation and habitat. Of these several drew states and county-wide praise and award winning acclaim including Pelican Rescue and Burrowing Owl habitat restoration.

Sandy is survived by her husband with whom she shared forty-eight wonderful years, their two sons Dan and Adam, her brother Gary and five grandchildren Dylan, Ava, Vivian, Kira, and Aubrey. She was always deeply involved with her grandkids who knew that "Mimi" was always there for them and showered them with unbounded love.
